IMEN, the International Music Education Network, aims at promoting cultural exchange in the field of music on a world-wide scale. This aim comprises the following objectives:

widening the opportunities for children from all over the world to develop their musical skills and facilitating their access to high quality education;
fostering the authentic music from many places of the world, giving musicians the opportunity to explore the music of their own region or country and to cultivate it;
contributing to an in-depth understanding of different musical cultures and their environment; in this regard: sensitizing music teachers to cultural particularities and raising their awareness on individual needs and talents;
developing new pedagogical concepts based on the experience and know-how of various institutions and musicians from all over the world;
fostering the dialogue on universal values and priorities to be respected within music education.

Our activities include

the financial and logistical support of students with regards to their music education;
the connection between music institutions worldwide in order to facilitate the exchange of music teachers and students;
the provision of performance opportunities for musicians of various cultures;
the support of music education initiatives through networking, the provision of pedagogical know-how and funding;
the analysis of different learning and teaching methods and the establishment of an experience database;
the development of new pedagogical concepts and methods based on the experience gained in music education projects.
